Support community to meet its daily basic and safety needs
During Catastrophic situations, CSRs have come to the rescue and stood as strong pillars to the country. Thank you for supporting us during the Kerala Floods. With the humble support of 75 lakhs from various corporates like Wells Fargo, ADP, Gulf Oil, Vodafone, PepsiCo and Synchrony, Nirmaan, as a part of Operation Sahaaya, had actively worked on the flood rehabilitation for most affected villages in Thrissur and Ernakulum districts of Kerala.
A similar catastrophic situation has again arisen - COVID 19. COVID-19 is an emergency, on a scale we have not seen before. Since the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak in China, the first confirmed cases in India, the second most populated country in the world, were reported in the state of Kerala. New confirmed cases are being reported in multiple cities and states. Till date, India has witnessed 1000 positive cases with new cases every day.
There is a huge need to initiate action on 2 fronts – Medical and Community. Our health care staff are facing severe shortage in vital critical care equipment which will impede in this war against Covid 19. On the economic front, as the country grapples with the national lockdown, the daily wage workers who comprise of almost 80% of India’s workforce are the worst hit. They are losing their means of livelihoods as the employers have shut operations for indefinite time. If we don’t provide a safety net now, every one of them, their children and other dependents are in danger of falling below the poverty line. The Govt. has announced a relief package of Rs. 1.70 lakh crore to help the nation’s poor, however, it might take some time to implement it and also, it might not reach the most needy in time, in proper quality and quantity.
This situation again demands for a proactive and aggressive action. We are reaching out to you for CSR support in strengthening our response to this pandemic. Nirmaan is coordinating with the Govt. of Telangana to understand the immediate needs of the government to counter and control this situation.
