The Government home for the elderly and disabled women located in Moosarambagh, Hyderabad is maintained under the auspices of the Dept. for Welfare of Disabled & Senior Citizens, Govt. of Telangana. This is a home for about 100 elderly women and women with disabilities.
The hundred plus inmates are currently dependent on only two geysers for hot water to bathe. Their dinner is usually cooked during early evening as the cook is relieved of their duty by 5:00 pm. The food is cold by the dinner time making it unconsumable at times. The impact of these issues is more pronounced during winters, for obvious reasons.
The support from the Govt addresses the fundamental needs such as, food, medical check-ups etc. However, comprehensive care is only possible with the involvement and collaboration of Government and the Community. As a community, we can help he elderly and disabled improve their quality of life and live with dignity.
